Thank you for visiting my website.

Whatever your reason for dropping by, I hope you find something that helps you in whatever situation you find yourself in, whether you are a victim of rape, a partner of a rape victim, a journalist, a student or just curious.

I was raped at my Ealing Vicarage home in March 1986. My father, the then vicar of Ealing, and my boyfriend were badly beaten in the attack by a gang of burglars.

Much has been written about that attack, both at the time and in the 15 years that followed - not all of it accurate and not all of it helpful.

But the fact is that people are now more willing to talk about rape than they ever have before.

In 1990 I wrote a book, Rape: My Story, with the help of Wendy Green, a friend of mine. It was thought that this was the first time a rape victim had removed the veil of anonymity to write such a book.

The letters I have received suggest that this book has helped many people. Sadly it is now out of print, but you can order a copy through this website (see the resources section).

Despite the many positive statements by politicians and the many helpful articles by the media exposing the unworkable nature of Britain's rape laws, the government has proved itself unwilling to bring about positive change.

But things are changing. The police service, the legal and medical professions treat rape victims with great care and professionalism. No rape victim should be afraid to report their attack to the police.

You can also email me, although I can't promise to reply to all correspondence and I can't provide a counselling service. You will find details of counselling services under the links section.

Thanks again for visiting this website. Please feel free to browse around and do come back soon.

Jill
